WHAT IS THE BEST SNAIL SLUT CREAM?

And how can you properly adapt your care to snail slime? A short practical guide to choosing your Helicotherapeutic treatments.

Snail slime cosmetics are becoming more and more present in European routines, while Asia has adopted it for a long time and in particular South Korea, which is the country where the most cosmetics are used per capita. . Some of these brands are starting to conquer the French market, other brands in France or Europe are already present. So how do you know which ones are the best? What treatments are most effective for your skin? In our opinion, here are the 4 most important points for choosing your care carefully and taking full advantage of the benefits of this natural treasure for your skin.

Here are 4 important points for choosing the right treatments!

1 – Harvesting mucus, an essential criterion

And above all essential for the animal, because how can we be sure that we are not hurting it? Always prefer manual harvesting . Miss Agathe, with her harvest in hand, snail by snail, carried out tests on the rate of reproduction and laying of snails which were stimulated to collect mucus (around thirty seconds and this only once a year) and other unstimulated snails. We were able to realize that only manual harvesting could guarantee no difference between the two groups. We were also able to quantify thanks to recent data (1) that the quality of snail mucus greatly depends on the harvesting method. Mucus collected by hand at a very specific period of its large reproductive cycle had a protein concentration 3 to 4 times higher than mucus collected with an industrial machine.

The most important thing with snails is knowing how to take your time

Mademoiselle Agathe's principles are based on respect for humans, animals and the environment. That's why our mucus is harvested exclusively by hand, handling each snail individually with the precision that only a human hand can provide.
Patience is essential when dealing with snails, as they require slow evolution to thrive. Our mucus harvesting method is based on unique French manual know-how and certified organic COSMOS.
We reject mechanized collection methods which we believe inevitably lead to snail suffering. It's hard to believe that an animal can be "gently tickled" or "gently stirred" when a machine is used to collect its mucus. As for methods involving electric shocks or centrifuges, they are totally unacceptable. These approaches do not correspond to the philosophy of snails or that of organic cosmetics and go against our ethics.

2 – Treatment of mucus and its concentration in care

To benefit from the healing, regenerating and anti-aging properties of snail slime, check the concentration of snail slime in the product. You can check the ingredients list and it is important that snail slime is in the very first ingredients. At Mademoiselle Agathe, snail slime is quite simply the first ingredient in the list of ingredients, which means that it is the majority ingredient in our formulas. We also indicate on the container the concentration of our extract in each of our formulations.

Why doesn't Mademoiselle Agathe use raw slime directly in her cosmetics?

Incorporating raw slime into a cosmetic product is simply not feasible. Attention ! We are referring here to a true mucus, that is to say, a substance neither liquid nor solid, flexible and elastic. Made up of 92-97% water, because the water is trapped in a three-dimensional molecular structure, making the mucus viscous.
It is therefore impossible to directly incorporate viscous raw mucus into a cosmetic treatment. True high viscosity mucus must undergo cold low pressure extraction to isolate the compounds of interest. Proteins, peptides and vitamins solubilize when they come into contact with a solvent. This crucial step makes it possible to extract and concentrate the active ingredients present in the snail slime.
Our cold, low-pressure extraction process allows filtration without emulsion or oxidation of the product, retaining the water-soluble and fat-soluble parts of the mucus. The main objective is to reduce the natural bacteria present in the drool without altering the organoleptic qualities of the mucus. For example, hemocyanin is one of the many active ingredients in snail mucus, having a regenerating effect on the skin.
We have carried out scientific tests on industrial mechanical mucus and our own mucus. This is called shear thinning, the science which studies the characteristics of a fluid composed of long molecules which, at rest, intermingle randomly and become more viscous. Under stress, these chains align and slide more easily, resulting in a decrease in viscosity.
Comparing manual harvesting to mechanical, our mucus has more than 200 times greater viscosity and more than 10,000 times greater elasticity. This proves not only that our manually harvested mucus is richer in protein, but also that the protein quality is better, with larger tangles and a more organized structure than in industrial mucus.

3 – Certified organic and 100% French, guarantees of quality

Choose treatments from certified organic farms and a COSMOS Organic certified harvest to avoid unwanted pollutants, such as heavy metals. As snails are true bioaccumulators, this certification is crucial to guarantee a safe and effective product.

Organic and natural cosmetics

The COSMOS certification specifications are an evolving document, constantly updated and improved according to progress, knowledge, technological advances and current regulations.
The COSMOS standard is a private European standard developed by five founding members, united in an international non-profit association. Their objective is to promote the use of ingredients from organic farming, to implement production and transformation processes that respect the environment and human health, and to integrate and develop the concept of “ green chemistry”.
We are the first range of snail slime cosmetics to incorporate such a concentration of certified organic mucus extract. To better understand the COSMOS ORGANIC label (European standard for organic and ecological cosmetics), we would like to point out that all the concentration percentages of our active ingredients have been verified and certified, from harvest to finished product. The COSMOS certification process ensures the safe use of your cosmetic treatments, with real control audits carried out several times a year by competent people.

4 – Find the treatments that suit your skin

Depending on your skin type and your needs, different Helicotherapeutic products may be suitable for you. And if you had to start with just one treatment, an ultra-concentrated facial serum will be ideal for all skin types, a purifying gel is however recommended for oily or acne-prone skin, while a specific eye contour will suit those looking for firmness and youthful for the eyes. For mature or dry skin, use the anti-aging range. Finally, for sensitive, fragile skin prone to eczema or psoriasis, the restorative range will be perfect for reactive and damaged skin.

Because we do not use the same formulations for young or mature skin, for dry or oily skin or even combination or normal skin, it is therefore important to choose carefully according to your skin type and the desired effect.
Hydration (in blue on the labels): Around 80% of the skin is made up of elastin and collagen. These proteins, naturally present in snail slime, give the skin suppleness and elasticity.
Anti-aging (in pink on the labels): Allantoin and the RIF1 mucus protein act on the aging process and promote cell renewal.
The Purifying Effect (in green on the labels): Antimicrobial peptides, actin and cytokeratins support the immune system and limit bacterial proliferation on the skin.
The healing effect (in orange on the labels): Allantoin and hemocyanin participate in the wound healing process and facilitate tissue repair.
The Antioxidant Effect (in yellow on the labels): Vitamins and serine proteases reduce inflammation and neutralize the effects of free radicals.
The Exfoliating Effect (in purple on the labels): Glycolic acid revives the radiance of the complexion by removing dead skin cells and helps reduce skin spots.

By following these tips, you will now know how to choose the best snail slime treatments for your skin. Helitherapy is starting to become essential in our beauty routines, so get ready to savor the benefits of this natural treasure for your skin!
