The Miss Agathe FAQ

Products

Where are your products made?

All our products are made in France. Our snail farmer is located in the heart of wine estates with exceptional terroirs between the DrĂŽme and the ArdĂšche. The collection of the slime is carried out in our laboratory, on the place of breeding according to a principle developed and patented without stress for the animal, which guarantees the most optimal active principle. Finally, our laboratory is located in the Pays de la Loire region, the leading French region for the production of medicinal plants.

Where can we find your products?

Our complete range of products is present on our website. Orders are shipped the same day or the day after their validation and delivered within 48 hours (working days) to your mailbox by Colissimo.
You can also buy in store and at our many fairs and shows. We invite you to consult the list by visiting our “Where to find us?” page.

If you collect snail slime, do you really respect the animal?

At Mlle Agathe, animal welfare is very important. Our heliculturist collects the mucus at the most opportune time for the animal, that is to say when it will be the least disturbed in its natural occupations. It is therefore after reproduction, when the snail produces its richest mucus, and when it no longer needs it, that Mademoiselle Agathe harvests it. The snail farmer works on instinct and feeling, depending on behavior, the period, and the environment (heat, humidity, moon cycles, etc.) and it is only under these conditions that the animal gives the best of its benefits.
This is why Mademoiselle Agathe takes care of her snails and their well-being by harvesting the slime manually, snail by snail, respecting the snail's life cycle and therefore their well-being. Do not hesitate to consult our page “Our snails and their well-being”.

Are your products tested on animals?

Mlle Agathe products and their ingredients are not tested on animals. You should know that since 2013 it is strictly forbidden to market cosmetics tested on animals within the European Union.

Why do we talk about snail slime extract?

You should know that to integrate snail slime or any other active ingredient of natural origin, you must first bring down the level of bacteria to have the right to incorporate it into a cosmetic formula. Indeed the legislation which imposes a good manufacturing practice, requires less than 100 ppm (Part Per Million) of bacteria. So all the know-how of our laboratory is to preserve the structure of living organisms by causing the naturally present bacterial flora to fall. To do this, we make an extract at low pressure and cold so as not to degrade the proteins and their bioavailability by mixing with the solvent (water or oil). This is how an active ingredient must be made if you want to be able to benefit from the desired virtues. Our technique comes in total opposition to certain mechanical techniques which claim “Fresh” or “Pure” drool. Because yes indeed no solvent is added so everything is burned.

Why do other brands refer to “Fresh”, “Pure”, or “100% organic” drool?

When we talk about "Fresh", "Pure" or "100% organic" slime, it means that the mucus is harvested industrially. This collection of mucus is very liquid, with less good bioavailability of enzymes (stress mucus), as well as little or no protein binding. This mucus being very fluid, it is therefore filtered by nano-filters, which means that these increase the pressure and heat the material. This first treatment has the immediate effect of breaking the protein chains of the "Fresh", "Pure" or "100% organic" drool. It is then irradiated by UV rays and finally, enough preservative must be added to also bring down the bacterial flora with the aim of destroying microbes, but also molds, spores, yeasts, sugars, i.e. the entirety of the alive. What allows a protein to be assimilated by the skin is first and foremost its structure in space (its bioavailability). A protein whose structure has been broken will be present in the raw material, but will have no way of penetrating the skin, let alone providing its benefits.

Why are there so many ingredients?

Snail slime is very good for the skin since it has strong cell regeneration properties, which helps to reduce wrinkles and fine lines but also scars, imperfections and other skin disorders.
Mademoiselle Agathe is committed to providing the most complete care possible with a maximum of snail slime extract inside. Most of the ingredients present in our formulas (other than our snail slime extract) are plant active ingredients (95% from organic farming) which complement the properties of snail slime and facilitate the penetration of the cream in the skin to counter the use of petrochemical oils.
Other active ingredients such as buckwheat wax, ribose (sugar derived from corn), algae (green and gold) will provide anti-dark circles, anti-puffiness properties, or even protection against external aggressions (pollution , sun...).
So with the Mlle Agathe Day Care, for example, a single product is enough to protect your skin, moisturize it and boost its cell regeneration.
And all of this is only possible through the respectful osmosis of animals and plants that gives all the effectiveness of our treatments.

Use

How to store the soap?

To prevent our soap from melting prematurely, we advise you to keep it on a soap dish away from humidity, so that it can dry between two uses. This means getting him out of the shower if necessary. We also recommend that you leave it to dry for a few days after receipt, this will make it all the more economical, because the drier it is, the less quickly it will wear out.

Products didn't work?

Most of the time our customers are quickly very satisfied with the result obtained with our cosmetics, for others the improvement is slighter but still very present (95%* of our customers). For people who see little or no improvement, we invite them first of all to contact us in order to discuss the product used, its properties, its use, and the desired result in order to understand why the product does not did not agree and offer you another product that would suit you better instead.

Why can't pregnant or breastfeeding women use the purifying gel for acne prone skin?

Purifying gel for acne-prone skin is "not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women" because it contains vitamin A. This is very effective against acne but in high doses, this ingredient could have a teratogenic effect c that is to say, during pregnancy, there could be adverse effects for the child. However, rest assured, the indication "Do not use for pregnant women" is only a precaution because the vitamin A content in the purifying gel has been validated by the SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety). The upper limit of exposure to vitamin A is set at 5000 IU per day. A facial product with a concentration of 0.3% of vitamin A leads to a daily exposure of 1185 IU for an adult. This exposure represents only 24% of the upper exposure limit. Therefore the SCCS considers the use of vitamin A in face creams at a concentration of 0.3% to be safe. The SCCS also estimates that based on a worst-case scenario, assuming that all cosmetic products used contain vitamin A (hand cream, body products, rinse-off products, lip products) at maximum concentrations, the exposure to vitamin A, all products combined, can lead to a total daily dose of 4855 IU maximum for an adult, which remains below the upper limit of daily exposure of 5000IU.

Why is the Helix Articule not recommended for people on anticoagulant treatment?

Our food supplements are based on snail slime which is supplemented with a phyto and gemmotherapy complex (ie plants and plant buds). Our Helix Articule contains Field Horsetail. This silicon-rich plant stimulates the synthesis of collagen, which is why it will relieve joint pain, particularly due to osteoarthritis. However, horsetail also has haemostatic properties (meaning it helps stop bleeding) which is the opposite of the action of anti-coagulants. Thus using these two products simultaneously could reduce the action of the anticoagulant, which is why we do not recommend it. The legislation obliges us to specify it despite the small quantity present in the bottle.

Do your sunglasses leave a white film?

Our sunscreens contain Titanium Dioxide in non-nano form, which is the only natural filter that is safe for both the skin and the environment. This ingredient tends to leave a white film, which is why we offer a tinted version of our sunscreen.
