Most snail slime cosmetics come from industrial farms where the animals are stressed in an acidic solution or stimulated by a machine to speed up mucus production. This stress mucus is much less rich in proteins beneficial for the skin.
With us, it's different. Patrice, our snail farmer in Albon, DrĂŽme, is the first snail breeder to be certified organic. Each snail is picked by hand, one by one, to stimulate its foot for about twenty seconds, and only once a year. The mucus harvested this way is much richer in proteins.

Snail slime is beneficial for the skin in many ways because it is composed of effective ingredients that act synergistically on acne, cell aging, healing, etc.
The main components are collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, numerous proteins, and antibacterial molecules that promote skin regeneration.
Helicitherapy is beneficial for healing, acne, skin aging, and for hydrating dry and atopic skin. There is no specific skin type for its use.

The use of snail slime for medicinal and cosmetic purposes dates back to ancient times, when Hippocrates, the founder of modern medicine, already recommended its use to treat wounds and skin inflammation (Garcia, 1999).
This historical overview illustrates that the therapeutic use of snail slime is not limited to empirical formulas. In fact, numerous scientific studies have highlighted a wide range of biological and therapeutic properties in snail slime.
To date, we have conducted about ten studies in collaboration with the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, the University of Rouen, and other research centers. All these studies have identified more than a hundred proteins, peptides, vitamins, and natural antibiotics in snail slime extract (Marie A et Al. 2019).
It is worth noting that we are not the only ones who have undertaken extensive research into Helix aspersa mucus. This research has led to numerous applications in the cosmetic and medical sectors worldwide, thanks to the various scientifically validated pharmacological properties of snail slime (Iguchi et al. 1982; Shah et al. 2012; Zizioli et al. 2022).
The active compounds in snail mucus have even been shown to constitute a unique natural product, which cannot be replicated in the laboratory by synthetic chemical compounds (Trapella et al., 2018).
Because our snail slime extract is loaded with collagen and elastin, two proteins responsible for skin elasticity, snail slime compensates for the age-related decline in the production of these two molecules⊠Coupled with plant active ingredients with softening and antioxidant properties, the mucus reveals its full effectiveness.
