The benefits of snail slime
Our mission: To make you benefit from all the benefits of snail slime for your skin. With more than 540 million years of natural evolution, the snail has developed an exceptionally compatible mucus with the skin and we invite you to discover here all the benefits of Helicotherapy.
A treasure of nature for your skin.
The use of snail slime for medicinal and cosmetic purposes dates back to ancient times when Hippocrates, the founder of modern medicine, already recommended its use to treat wounds and
skin inflammations (Garcia, 1999).
This historical reminder illustrates that the therapeutic use of snail slime is not limited to empirical formulas. In fact, numerous scientific studies have demonstrated a wide range of biological and therapeutic properties in snail slime.
So far, we have conducted about ten studies in collaboration with the Paris Natural History Museum, the University of Rouen and other research centers. All these studies have identified more than a hundred natural proteins, peptides, vitamins and antibiotics in snail slime extract (Marie A et Al. 2019).
It should be noted that we are not the only ones who have undertaken extensive research on the mucus of Helix aspersa. This research has led to numerous applications in the cosmetic and medical sectors around the world, thanks to the various scientifically validated pharmacological properties of snail slime (Iguchi et al. 1982; Shah et al. 2012; Zizioli et al. 2022 ).
The active compounds in snail mucus have even been shown to be a unique natural product, which cannot be reproduced in the laboratory by synthetic chemical compounds (Trapella et al., 2018).
10 FABULOUS ACTIONS OF SNAIL SLIME PROTEINS
1
IT IMPROVES SKIN HYDRATION AND ELASTICITY
Snail slime naturally contains mucopolysaccharides, capable of forming powerful bonds with neighboring water molecules for optimal hydration of the surrounding tissues. In addition, it promotes the production of hyaluronate, thus increasing water retention and skin viscoelasticity.
(Gentili et al. 2020; Adikwu et al. 2008; Truchuelo et al. 2020).
2
IT REDUCES WRINKLES, FINE LINES AND EXPRESSION LINES
Thanks to the interaction of several bioactive molecules such as glycolic acid, hemocyanin, actin, allantoin, elastin and collagen, snail slime improves skin hydration and elasticity , thus helping to diminish wrinkles, stretch marks, signs of photo-aging and free radical damage.
(Arora, 2021; Cristiano et al. 2022; Liudmyla et al. 2022; Laneri et al. 2019; Tsakanova et al. 2021; Truchuelo et al. 2020).
3
IT HAS ANTIMICROBIAL AND BACTERIOSTATIC PROPERTIES
Snail mucus has shown antimicrobial abilities on several types of bacteria, including those resistant to antibiotics. These properties result from the combined action of various peptides. In addition, the "bacteriostatic" effect, demonstrated with the University of Rouen, is beneficial for the improvement of acne-prone skin, preventing the destruction of the good bacteria present on the skin.
(Dwek MV et al. 2001; Noothuan N. et al. 2021; Ulagesan et al. 2018; Zhong et al. 2013)
4
IT INCREASES HEALING PROCESSES
Snail slime has been shown to be effective in healing wounds, both in vitro and in clinical studies. It accelerates this process by promoting the migration of fibroblasts and improving the expression of genes linked to healing. It also regulates metalloproteinases (MMPs), proteins essential to all stages of the wound healing process.
(Gugliandolo et al. 2021; Olczyk et al. 2014)
5
IT INTENSIFIES THE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTION OF THE SKIN
The alliance of various anti-inflammatory molecules in snail slime such as actin, allantoin, peptides, enzymes, antioxidants such as vitamins E & C and carotenoids, neutralizes cell-damaging free radicals. the skin and cause inflammation. Combined with polysaccharides that moisturize the skin, they help reduce inflammation and promote cell regeneration.
(Gugliandolo, Macri et al. 2021; Gugliandolo, Cordaro et al. 2021; Naruke et al. 2021; Nakajima et al. 2014; Messina et al. 2022)
6
IT STIMULATES THE SYNTHESIS OF COLLAGEN AND ELASTIN
As we age, collagen production decelerates, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. The proteins contained in snail slime, when applied to the skin, stimulate cell renewal by increasing the production of types 1 and 3 of collagen as well as elastin, thus delaying skin aging.
(Adikwu et al. 2008).
7
IT PROMOTES SKIN REPAIR AND REGENERATION
The keratolytic effect of snail slime is due to the ability of its bioactive molecules to penetrate the epidermis, dissolve intercellular bonds and facilitate the elimination of dead cells. These substances trigger a series of reactions stimulating the regeneration and production of new cells, thus promoting the synthesis of collagen and elastin.
(Liudmyla et al., 2022) (Tsoutsos et al., 2009)
8
IT FORM AN ANTI-POLLUTION BARRIER
The presence of mucopolysaccharides in snail slime creates a barrier protecting epithelial cells against pollution. Polyphenols could give snail slime the ability to prevent and counter pollution-induced oxidative damage.
(Gentili et al. 2020)
9
IT ELIMINATES FREE RADICALS
Snail mucus contains antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) activity, which protect cells against damage from free radicals or reactive oxygen species. SODs also protect cellular components against oxidation by reducing damage caused by free radicals.
(Cristiano et al. 2021; Laneri et al. 2019; Tsakanova et al. 2021)
10
IT HELPS THE SKIN REPAIR DAMAGE CAUSED BY UV
Snail slime contains compounds such as hemocyanin, actin, allantoin, peptides and vitamins that stimulate cell regeneration and help repair skin damage caused by UV rays, such as sunburn or loss of skin. of essential fatty acids. Its ability to repair the skin has been demonstrated thanks to its emollient, antimicrobial and adhesive properties.
(Greistorfer et al. 2017; Pitt SJ et al. 2015; Tsoutsos et al. 2009)

Because we do not treat oily skin prone to impurities or acne in the same way as normal or combination skin, or dry and sensitive skin, we have developed specific skincare routines with a perfect synergy between snail slime and our plant-based active ingredients.~~~~~
Snail slime for dry or mature skin
For dry or mature skin, treat yourself to a pure extract of hydration and regeneration. Over the days, the skin is soothed, signs of fatigue faded, wrinkles and fine lines reduced. Snail slime slows down or prevents the phenomenon of oxidation. Our mucus is thus made up of vitamins C, E and D which boost cell renewal by improving the elasticity and firmness of the skin.

Snail slime to purify acne-prone or oily skin
For purified skin, prone to blackheads and pimples due to overproduction of sebum, use our purifying treatments. It is important to purify oily skin without drying it out. The purifying action is boosted by our snail mucus, naturally rich in actin and cytokeratin proteins which act as a support for the immune system and limit the proliferation of skin bacteria responsible for acne.

Snail slime and psoriasis or eczema.
It soothes inflammation and calms itching. Snail slime helps alleviate eczema on many levels. Loaded with peptides, vitamins and hemocyanin, it first helps create a natural barrier by preventing the accumulation of impurities and also helps soothe itching. It works the same way on psoriasis, remedying extreme dryness and reducing irritation.

Because our snail slime extract is loaded with collagen and elastin, two proteins responsible for the elasticity of the skin, snail slime compensates for the production of these two molecules which decrease with age... Coupled with active ingredients plants with softening and antioxidant properties, mucus reveals all its effectiveness. Applied around the eyes, it lifts puffiness and dark circles in your eyes.
